Look for the Union Label

My Metro DC Labor Council "Union City" newsletter (an awesome resource by the way) tells me that one hundred years ago today the American Federation of Labor chartered the Union Label Department. You can think of this as the original "fair trade" purchasing, as labor organized campaigns to get people to buy union made goods. In the late 1970s, the International Ladies Garment Workers Union (ILGWU) took this to the modern media age and made a series of commercials encouraging people to look for the union label. Here's one of them; man the '70s were awesome!
